Casting Call

Hello! We are local student filmmakers (Bellevue College) who are
looking for several actors and actresses to audition for “I Want to be
Loyal”. This is a short film about a married guy who is trying to
avoid the gravitational pull of attractive women on campus, while
being heavily influenced by an invisible devil type character. It is a
short comedy that is planning on shooting in the next two weeks. We
need 6 very attractive women, and 2 men. Most positions are for
credit, food and fun, the lead position we can negotiate a fair
stipend. The goal is to enter the film festival circuit, including
international film festivals.

Reply to: Please contact our producer, Sid, at octoberfirst2010@live.com with
headshots and your film resume so we can arrange an audition in the
near future.

Ara'Kus Chorus Auditions (Woodinville, WA)

We are auditioning for members of the Chorus for Ara'Kus, an established Operatic/Symphonic Metal Band and Production Company based out of the Seattle and North End area. We are looking for singers of all voices to join us in our hugely successful theatrical production, Aeterno Elementum, The Eternal Elements, as part of the Northwest's only heavy metal chorus. We need chorus members for the next shows, which will take place on August 26 and 27, at the Historic Everett Theater. This will be the third run of Aeterno Elementum at HET.

Aeterno Elementum tells a sweeping story of betrayal and tragedy that leaves viewers in shock and awe. The basic story is about one man's dream of a world without sin, only to find that when this is achieved, there is no one else in it. This chilling story is told not only through the music, but also through performers of all types. Actors bring to life the events of the tales, while martial artists and dancers of various sorts amaze the audience and create a sense of intense spectacle. Contributing to this artistic tapestry are compositions which feature complex, classically-influenced progressions that appeal to even non-fans of heavy metal, and showcase several operatic vocalists as well as a full 4-voice chorus. Orchestrated pieces feature operatic soprano Vivian Lee and tenor Jeremiah Johnson, plus classical interludes by guitarist Randy Haines and pianist Rachel Brunson, and other unexpected performances. We have some of the Seattle Knights performing in our fight scenes!

We rehearse on Wednesdays in Woodinville, and the show is in Everett. If you are interested in coming out to participate, contact me for sheet music; tell me if you are soprano, alto, tenor, or baritone. Videos and music are available on www.arakusband.com. We want to hear you sing; prepare a song to sing a capella, any song. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Actor needed for independent feature film (Yakima Valley)

Lead Balloon Productions is looking to cast an actor to play the role of a winery owner in its upcoming independent feature film, "Cement Suitcase."

The movie, which will be filmed in the Yakima Valley in July, describes the character, known as Mr. Carpenter, as "a man in his 40s, maybe with salt and peppered hair." He's a lenient boss who has taken too much, like the dad who doesn't want to punish his misbehaving child.

Let us know if you are interested in auditioning by e-mailing us and we will contact you with sides from the script immediately. Due to distance, we are asking all actors to upload a video of their audition to YouTube or other online video service or file-sharing sites for our review.

The role of Mr. Carpenter is slated to be shot on scene in the Yakima Valley on July 14th, but the selected actor may be needed from July 12-14.

For more information on the film, visit www.cementsuitcase.com.

Actress needed for guerrilla film project

Looking for an actress, ideally 18-30 (though those numbers aren't set
in stone) for a no-budget short film shooting the evenings of July
24th and 25th (flexible dates) in the Capitol Hill and Leschi
neighborhoods of Seattle. The role isn't physically or emotionally
demanding and just requires the actress to act slightly intoxicated
and a little out of her element-- but nothing extreme. Unfortunately
we cannot offer pay in money, but a screen credit will be given. The
script for the film will be tailored heavily for the actress in
question. There are no physical requirements for the role. For more
information and to schedule an audition if interested, please email
the director at jimmybontatibus@hotmail.com

Jimmy Bontatibus is a young filmmaker stationed in Seattle, WA. He is
on the committee for Cine Foundation International, a London based non-
profit film company that features filmmakers such as Béla Tarr
(Satan's Tango, Werckmeister Harmonies, and most recently, the Silver
Bear award-winning The Turin Horse) and Lav Diaz (Evolution of a
Filipino Family, Guggenheim Fellowship recipient 2010) on the board of
directors. Jimmy wrote and directed a short film with CFI and it is
currently in a touring program.

DISCORD - Short Film Casting (Pacific NW)

Casting for short film to be shot in early fall.

DISCORD
Discord is about the tension in a relationship caused by differing opinions on the morality of child-rearing, ie should two people in a struggling relationship have a child? This central conflict between Irvin and Marietta, the film's protagonists, is back-dropped by two menacing mysteries -- the first is the sudden disappearance of Luz, a neighborhood child who Marietta babysits, and the second is a creepy spider that Irvin continues to come across throughout the course of the film. Discord will feature elements of gritty neo-realist films while making intermittent and surprising use of magical realism.

Casting for the following character roles:

Irvin: 18-25. The film's protagonist. He's a fit dude, he's Native American, and he does some martial arts in the film.

Marietta: 18-25. Irvin's girlfriend and co-protagonist of the film. Marietta is an attractive Chicana who wants to have a child with Irvin. She's prone to emotional outbursts.

Rollo: 18-30. A tall, Caucasian drug-dealer. Rollo is a classic wangster with alot of swagger. He's interested in Marietta, and his overt flirtation with Marietta leads to a fight scene between Rollo and Irvin.

Luz: 4-6. A little neighborhood girl who Marietta babysits. Luz is an ethnic child -likely Mexican- she has two scenes in the film and limited (somewhat flexible) lines.

Cop 1: 30-45. A veteran police officer who interrogates Irvin when Luz goes missing.

Cop 2: 30-45. Cop 1's backup.

The Neighbor: 18-35. Irvin's beer drinking, cigarette smoking neighbor.

Mr. Fapimai: 40-65. A stocky Thai man who owns the fish shop that Irvin works at. Limited lines, some in Thai.

Male Bartender: 25-35. A big friendly dude. Works with Marietta. Limited lines.

Delyla: 17-21. Luz's mother and Marietta's best friend. Ethnic- black or Latina.

Neighborhood kids: between 5 and 13. A bunch of children who Marietta babysits.

Auditions: Friday, June 24, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Friday, June 24, 2011.

What inspires you and motivates you to keep going in what can sometimes be a very challenging industry? In a field with lots of rejection, it can be challenging to stay positive and strong, but sometimes our passion alone drives us through.

What keeps you inspired and motivated? Do you have a mantra that you say before every show or before that close up shot? Do you have have a book that you read that helps you feel grounded and confident? Maybe staying in the social scene or taking classes does the trick?

Share with the community what you do to continue to motivate yourself to keep going and stay positive in an industry that can easily break someone's confidence.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends.

Thanks.
