Auditions: Monday, April 04, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Monday, April 04, 2011.

With a new week, comes an amazing new topic of discussion for our chat box.

This week, let's focus in on how to pick the right auditions. What do you look for when selecting work you are interested in auditioning for. Many in the industry are willing to work for free if it is for a friend, or for something that will be great material for our reel, but some people in our community feel they should get paid appropriately for their work.

Honestly, I am always thankful to even just get paid from a gig found outside of an agent, but we all see things differently. What do you focus in on when filtering auditions for work? Do you look for monetary compensation, and weigh out how much work for how much money? Do you ask yourself whether auditioning for the experience and networking would be great in itself? What questions do you ask yourself before submitting yourself for auditions?

I have also read in the chat box that some have experienced inappropriate behavior and actions at auditions. What do you look for in an audition notice to avoid running into a situation like this?

Let's chat throughout the week about what work needs to be done before we even submit ourselves for auditions. What have your experiences been like, and what questions do you always ask yourself?

If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

Email: MissionVeritas@comcast.net

“Mission Veritas”, a sci-fi adventure about young recruits in a future military, will be auditioning for several parts in the month of May 2011 for shooting in June 2011.

This independent film will be taped in high def in a warehouse near Renton, WA, and outfitted with green screen. A CG environment added in post production (much like the movie “300”).

We are currently gathering resumes for several speaking parts:

Recruits:

6 males, age 18 to 20

6 females, age 18 to 20

Officers and Staff:

3 males, age 40+

2 females, age 40+

Non-speaking parts:

We are also in need of 10 to 12 actors who will have non-speaking parts, but will have several screen “moments” (i.e., not a background “extra”, so your friends will definitely know it’s you).

Actors can be any ethnicity, but the roles are all military, so you must be in good shape, and hair must be close to military standards, and no facial hair or ear gauges.

Taping will happen on
Saturdays (June 4,11,18,25) from noon to 8:00ish, and on
Thursdays (June 9,16,23) 3:00ish to 9:00ish.

A pre-production meeting will be held May 28th on the set.

The “officers and staff” will need only be there the first and last Saturdays of taping (approximately 16 hours on set).

The “recruits” will be needed Saturdays and Thursdays (approximately 50 hours on set).

Select adult roles will be needed one additional Saturday (approximately 24 hours on set).

Catering will include 1 sandwich type meal plus snacks and beverages per taping day.

There is no up-front pay for the actors, but a “residual clause” will be included in the “release” in the event Mission Veritas earns revenue from US or international distribution.

Upon completion of Mission Veritas:

There will be a movie debut at a theater for all of your friends and family to see you on the big screen.

All actors and directly involved persons will get a DVD and movie poster, and, of course, film credits.

Mission Veritas will be made available on Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, and Hulu (and others).

Mission Veritas will be entered into one or more film festivals (however, acceptance cannot be guaranteed).

An entry into IMDB.COM will be sought for the movie, all actors, and other pertinent persons (however, acceptance cannot be guaranteed).

A distribution contract will be sought (however, acceptance cannot be guaranteed).

PLEASE RESPOND with your headshot and resume by April 30, 2011. Be sure that you’re certain you can be available for the shoot dates described above. Auditions and casting will be in mid-May. This is YOUR opportunity to get lots of screen time and dialog in a feature length movie!
