This page contains auditions posted on Wednesday, April 06, 2011.
With a new week, comes an amazing new topic of discussion for our chat box.
This week, let's focus in on how to pick the right auditions. What do you look for when selecting work you are interested in auditioning for. Many in the industry are willing to work for free if it is for a friend, or for something that will be great material for our reel, but some people in our community feel they should get paid appropriately for their work.
Honestly, I am always thankful to even just get paid from a gig found outside of an agent, but we all see things differently. What do you focus in on when filtering auditions for work? Do you look for monetary compensation, and weigh out how much work for how much money? Do you ask yourself whether auditioning for the experience and networking would be great in itself? What questions do you ask yourself before submitting yourself for auditions?
I have also read in the chat box that some have experienced inappropriate behavior and actions at auditions. What do you look for in an audition notice to avoid running into a situation like this?
Let's chat throughout the week about what work needs to be done before we even submit ourselves for auditions. What have your experiences been like, and what questions do you always ask yourself?
If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.
Thanks.

"Glitch" audition pilot. Seattle, WA
Magpie Pictures is casting for a six episode comedy with corporate backing.
Casting non-union actors (AFTRA audition will hopefully follow)in *Seattle,
WA*. This call is for the three lead roles. Supporting role auditions will
follow shortly.
*Logline* - A video game tester undergoes a quarterlife crisis that triggers
8-bit video game glitches to occur in his real life.
We are looking to cast the following roles:
*Brian “Glitch” Banner* (25-30) – Glitch suddenly finds himself in a world
of 8-bit video game bugs that only he can see. He is a frustrated but very
smart young man who has been trying hard all his life but hasn’t yet to
amount to much. Glitch has devalued his intellect as it hasn’t furthered any
career and seems just to upset others. He is a genuinely nice guy, but has a
deep undertone of cynicism and sarcasm. Yet he is such an open guy that
these traits serve to endear him—he laughs at himself first, and rarely acts
out of meanness or spite. His disdain for the more annoying subsets of geeks
and geek culture are the only time he has a bite to him. The rest of the
time he mostly reacts as the situations of each episode and the various game
bugs throughout spring on him. It takes a certain kind of stoicism to roll
with it all. Above everything else, Glitch is a joker and likes making
people laugh.
*Samantha “Samus” Burroughs* (22-27) – Glitch’s co-worker and close friend.
She is cute and sassy in a way that was born out the frustration of
correcting people on the clichés of nerd girl gamers. Headstrong, impulsive
and adorable. She considers Glitch a dear friend, but there’s no attraction
there. If Glitch ever asked her out, she would laugh in his face, probably
punch him, and then invite him to play drunken Rock Band. Sam’s other
hobbies include lighting Barbies on fire and photographing them as protest
art, playing lots and lots of WoW, and hating things. Samus walks a line
between crazy energy and sweetness.
*Wyatt Taylor* (22-35) – Glitch’s best friend and roommate, who lives a
blissful life away from testing. He is a true gamer, playing everything that
comes out for every platform, just for the joy of it. He serves as a source
of envy for Glitch (and his disillusionment of his former gaming passion)
and also manages to be a zen nerd, a guide for Glitch on how to live his
life in a geek balance. Wyatt’s day job is a contractor (mostly decks and
house add-ons) and his other passion is marathon running, making Wyatt an
intentional destruction of the traditional nerd cliché. He is calm, peaceful
and scruffy.
We will be looking for performers versed in geek culture. Evidence of
geekery will be highly prioritized.
This production requires a commitment to the pilot episode and then five
subsequent episodes to be filmed shortly thereafter.
*ONLY STRONG, PROVABLE ACTORS NEED APPLY.*
