Auditions: Friday, May 06, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Friday, May 06, 2011.

This year is flying by, and May has arrived! With the start of this new month, and the popularity picking up for film in the Pacific Northwest, it may be necessary to strengthen your marketing tools for better visibility to the LA Casting Directors and Talent Agencies.

As actors, we may sometimes be asked to pay for specific services that can be viewed as marketing tools, but do these really help us find work? Casting Frontier is a popularly used resource in the Portland area, and while the basic profile is free, the premium profile is a minimal charge of $10/month, but opens up some very valuable resources, including having a demo reel available for visitors. Another widely known resource is IMDB, which is $15.95/month for a professional profile, also allowing a bio, headshots, and a demo reel.

There are other free actor resources out there, including
Actor Access, Actor Hub, Model Mayhem, but which are more beneficial to use, and at what stage is it necessary to pay for these resources to move your career forward? What are the online marketing tools you take advantage of, and are the free resources enough for your acting needs?

Let's open the discussion and chat about your thoughts.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

Lotsa Talent needed for quick Sunday shoot

Hello - want some guaranteed festival exposure? We're finishing our trailer for STIFF this Sunday and we need a large group of people for one big shot. You'd be part of a crowd that's chasing the main character and you'd be in a costume of some kind hopefully...pretty much any kind of costume would be cool. Could be an old Halloween recycle or just something silly. You should bring a friend or two and come help us out!
The shoot will take place in Renton around 4pm this Sunday the 8th and we will only need you for this one epic shot and it will take about an hour. Credit and copy for your time plus this trailer will play in front of multiple screenings at STIFF and live on virally after that. Thanks for reading - have a great day.

Actor/Actress needed for short film - JustBee Pictures

We’re looking to fill two spots for an upcoming short film that will be shot
and submitted to the *Busan International Film Festival 2011 *in South Korea

Independent media group, JustBee Pictures, is looking to shoot this short
film sometime in Mid-May and will submit the film Mid - June. Details will
be released shortly; however, plan to shoot on/around 17th-22nd . Dates will
be narrowed down from that range shortly.

*No previous acting experience required.*

*Needed:*

*Lead Actor:* Early-mid 20’s, clean-cut/handsome, athletic build preferred.
Any ethnicity welcome.

*Lead Actress: *Early-mid 20’s as well, *hoping* for someone who is mixed
(or is of partial/full Asian descent), but any ethnicity is welcome.
Preferably darker colored hair. Looking for natural beauty, younger looking.
The ability to produce tears is nice, but no sobbing required.

*Extras:* Made up of both males and females, preferably also in 20’s.

Since this film will be shot without a budget, we cannot offer any financial
compensation. However, Cast/Crew will be fed, and offered screen credits
along with the potential opportunity to be screened at an international
setting. Other film festivals are being discussed, however this is our
primary goal as of now. Cast/Crew will be offered a final cut of the short
film on DVD as well.

*Synopsis:*

This short story will follow two different individuals comparing the stark
contrast in the types of lives they lead. Through a peculiar set of
circumstances, they will eventually meet and their lives will become
intertwined. The lead actor will be depicted as leading a somewhat
introverted life on a large piece of property spending most of his time at
the shop performing various mechanical activities. Void of any real “social”
life, he spends most of his time in his work, alone. In contrast the Lead
Actress will be portrayed as a city girl trapped in a life she didn’t ask
for surrounded by people she doesn’t/know or particularly like. It will be
suggested that she lives a life with the “wrong crowd” involving drug/sexual
abuse, and soon seeks help to escape this lifestyle by contacting her father
whom she hasn’t maintained contact with for a long time. The letter she had
written asking for any kind of aid/assistance from him is instead sent to
the Lead Actor. From there, their contact is maintained through his
satisfaction in finding someone whom he can actually talk to, and someone
she can seek refuge/help from. Implicitly, the two individuals will
eventually form a relationship beyond the initial friendship.

There will be *absolutely no explicit scenes* shot of the lead actress. The
lifestyle will be suggested, but not portrayed to a high extent. Every scene
will provide a subtle triggers to move the story, so don’t be concerned with
having to do anything provocative and/or questionable. There are minimal
amounts of dialogue, so the overall “feeling” and “atmosphere” of the film
will be heavily emphasized.

*Film will be shot in three different locations:*

*Seattle, WA*

*Renton, WA*

*Puyallup, WA*

Thank you!
