Auditions: Tuesday, May 10, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

So, you have successfully marketed yourself online, and those auditions are starting to fly in. You arrive at the auditions, confident, looking good, and prepared to present your audition piece before the casting director. You proudly hand over your beautifully printed headshot with your neatly formatted resume on the back, giving a smile to those in the room. Then, you hear those terrifying words, "Wow, that's you?"

Maybe you waited too long to get new headshots. Maybe your hair color or style has changed too much. Maybe your makeup artist did your makeup differently than you normally wear it for auditions. Whatever the case may be, your headshot must look like you in your current state, and must reflect the essence of your personality. As outlined in Lana Veenker's Tools 4 Actors newsletters, casting directors hate surprises. Not only will you waste a casting director's time, but you may anger agents and casting directors to the point where they will remember you from that experience and not call you in again. Many actors even have a variety of headshots to use for a variety of roles - theatrical, commercial, and film.

How do you determine whether you loo like your headshot? How do you know when it is time for new headshots? Do you use different headshots for different types of roles? Who took your headshots, and who would you recommend to others?

Let's open the discussion and chat about your thoughts with your headshots, which as an actor are your number one marketing tool before you step in the door for that audition.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

more information about their organization.

Connecting Borders Foundation is throwing a fundraiser fashion show
on June 10th at the Hotel 1000 in Seattle, WA. We have partnered
with High Maintenance Bitch (The most publicized luxury pet brand in
the world). They have hit series on Bravo and Animal Planet and they
have sponsored the Emmy's since 2004. They are filming the event
along with the open call for their upcoming reality show. We have
already selected the designers and the theme is the name of the non-
profit, Connecting Borders, so the designs will be international and
will represent regions throughout the world. Since every design is
so different they all have different looks they are hoping for.
There are only 2 male designs and all the remaining designs are for
women, but there isn't really a specific "look" that we are hoping
for. There is no compensation for this opportunity, but there should
be good media coverage and of course it will be filmed for the
reality show and their names will be included on Connecting Borders
website.

The Open Call is tomorrow night - May 10th at 7pm at the Hotel 1000
in the studio.

Connecting Borders is a non-profit humanitarian organization that
works to help children and people living in poverty through hands on
monetary giving, scholarships and internship opportunities. The goal
is to help each individual obtain their full potential with personal
and community support and training.

We are raising money to support the Azul Wasi orphanage in Oropesa,
Peru.

The fashion show is on June 10th and is sponsored by:
Seattle Art Institute - Designers
Seal it with Love - Invitations, Tickets, Posters
Lauren Kahan Photography
Hotel 1000 - Venue

Sisterhood of Death Casting Call

We had a great turnout for our auditions last week. We have most of
the roles filled and are in the process of doing callbacks but we
would like to look at a few more actors. Below is a description if the
roles we are looking for. We really only need one more girl and are
waiting to assign the roles to the actors when all four actors have
been cast.

Death is an Occult Horror Film with a strong comedic element. The film

Casting for indie supernatural thriller

*The Mission* is a supernatural thriller about six young Mormon missionaries
in Japan whose lives are infiltrated by a supernatural evil. (This film is
neither pro- nor anti-Mormon. It is merely the setting for a rousing ghost
story.)

We will be shooting in the Seattle area with some location exteriors taking
place in Japan for certain roles (travel and lodging will be of course
arranged by the production). Production estimated for Fall 2011, but we are
adamant about finding the right cast before beginning production.

Though this is a a genre film, it is a character-driven and light on
effects/gore. A very acting-centric production.

-There are seven lead and principal roles for *actors 18-25, male and
female, all ethnicities*. Because these missionaries are 23 at the oldest,
this is a hard cap on age. By "25" we're looking for someone 25 who looks
20, not someone 30 who looks 25.

Additionally, we are casting:

-one principal* female role (20-35)* for an Asian actress who is *fluent in
Japanese*.

-one *middle-aged female role (45-60),* Asian. Japanese not required.

-one* middle-aged male role (45-65).* Caucasian.

Auditions will be held at the end of May by invitation. These are all paid
roles, non-union.

Daily Riots Productions is casting for a feature length murder mystery to be
shot in and around Seattle in September 2011. The movie focuses on five
friends out backpacking in the Olympic National Forest, and the murder of
one of them just before nightfall. We’ll combine their frightening
vulnerability with a side of ‘The Usual Suspects’, as the truth behind the
mysterious death of their friend Sophia six months before comes to light. We
are looking for actors who can bring this sense of fear and retribution to
life.

Auditions will be on Thursday, May 19thth from 6PM to 9PM.
We will need
actors who can commit to a 20 day shoot, along with rehearsals of increasing
frequency beginning in June. These will be paid roles, with SAG and non-SAG
actors welcome.

***

NATHAN:

A handsome male in his late 20’s who is quickly going to seed

ALLEN:

A police officer in his late 20’s who will never make detective and knows
it, so is always looking to assert what authority he has.

WILL:

A slick bar owner in his late twenties who is fighting to keep his head
above water and will never let anyone know it.

***

We look forward to hearing from you.

Producer
