Auditions: Wednesday, May 25, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

There are so many different techniques that actors can utilize to achieve a solid performance. Many local teachers focus on different styles, and some may work perfectly, while others just aren't for you. Whether it's Stanislavsky, Viewpoints, Meisner, or just being you, there is a reason so many people rely on these techniques when focusing on training and improving your acting abilities.

What are some of the techniques you have used in your training, and what have you actually applied when working on set? What works for you, and what doesn't? Sometimes, depending on the role, being a method actor is the best way for me to get a true, honest performance, while others may laugh at method actors and think it's unnecessary to go that far to get a good performance.

Whatever works for you is what you should stick with, but it's always interesting to learn about other actor's techniques, and what your process is to achieve that perfect, natural performance.

Share with us what your process is and what techniques work best for you. Which teachers have you been drawn to that have helped you get that solid performance. Do you use different techniques for different character types? Is your process for film the same as it would be when preparing to perform on stage?

Let's get this week's topic of discussion going

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

casting several roles for new Seattle web series

Looking to cast a few roles for my new web series. This is a non-union, non-paying gig.

Lucien: M, Caucasian, 35-45, English accent and nudity (in a non-sexual context) required. This character is gay, so you have to be okay with that. Prefer someone tall and lanky, with a brooding, intellectual quality. Very short pieces in multiple episodes that can be shot all on one day or two days.

Lucien's lover: M, Caucasian, 18-30, non-speaking role, one or two episodes. This guy only needs to be effing gorgeous, nothing else required.

Debbie: F, 18-25 but must pass believably for 14 or 15years old. Caucasian or Asian. Must appear in a swimsuit and various other athletic attire. Character is an over-achieving teen who plays every sport there is, and is in every academic club too. But socially a little naïve, of course. Several episodes.

Todd: M, 18-25 but must pass believably for 14 or 15years old. Caucasian or Asian. Must appear in a speedo type, racer's swimsuit. Debbie's brother and partner on their high school swim team. One or two episodes.

Agnes: F, 45-70, Caucasian. Victorian nanny type, English accent required. Stern, weathered, worldly, takes no shit from anyone. Several short pieces in multiple episodes, maybe can be shot all on one or two days.
